John Manter, Webmaster of Stockton Tower Website and Myself completed a cross country road trip to Maine, we left on May 7th, 1999, and arrived back in California May 23, 1999. The Railroad pictures we took are on the Rails Across America page. Circumstances have dictated that 5 years later, a repeat of that trip (being dubbed "Rails Across America II") commenced November 3rd 2004 when I departed Reno NV on Amtrak Train #6 to Chicago where I switched to Train #48 to Albany NY, where I switched to train #448 to Boston, the remainder of the trip east was by Bus between Boston MA and Portland ME. After 6 days of John finalizing his business in preparation for his move to Nevada, we departed Brunswick, ME on Nov 13 and drove west to Utica NY where we spent the night. Unfortunately incompetent 1 hour developing destroyed a key roll of film taken there. Our second night out saw us in Altoona PA where we visited the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum and Horseshoe Curve. (Images of Altoona and the curve are also on the Altoona page on this website). Our third night out saw us in Terre Haute IN, unfortunately rail activity was light on this leg and very little railroad pictures were taken of this leg. Our 4th night saw us in Kansas City, the 5th night was Cheyenne WY, and the final night out was Elko NV. This page has the rail photos. For scenery pictures of the trip, click Here
